Job description
We are looking for an experienced and driven Expert IT Engineer Backend Platform who wants to play a key role in developing, managing and securing our backend platforms. Within the Backend Platform team, you will work on a stable, reliable, secure and future-ready IT infrastructure. The role focuses on our continued move towards Azure infrastructure services, while also ensuring that the remaining on-premises systems are managed securely and reliably during the transition.
In this role, you are not only technically strong, but you also take ownership. You help guide improvements, support colleagues, work on complex issues and make sure our platforms continue to meet requirements for availability, security, lifecycle management and scalability. You work closely with fellow engineers, architects, security teams and other IT departments to deliver lasting solutions.
Your responsibilities include:
Lead and improve the management, security and further development of backend platforms.
Handle and coordinate complex technical incidents, including structural improvement actions.
Initiate and carry out lifecycle management, patching and security improvement activities.
Design, build and improve platform solutions based on existing standards, guidelines and procedures.
Automate management processes and recurring tasks, using tools such as PowerShell and DevOps pipelines.
Actively contribute to monitoring, alerting, documentation and the manageability of the platforms.
Work with architects, security teams and other platform teams to apply guidelines and principles correctly.
Coach and support colleagues with technical questions, ways of working and quality improvements.
Contribute to cross-team and cross-department initiatives related to infrastructure, security and cloud.
Contribute to cost-aware and future-focused platform management, including attention to Azure and hybrid environments.
Take part in on-call duties and work outside regular service windows when needed.
Your talents
Analytical, technically strong and able to connect people. That is how we would best describe you. You have broad experience with backend platforms and know how to build reliable, secure and manageable IT solutions. You look beyond day-to-day operations and see where improvements are needed. You involve colleagues, make complex topics understandable and encourage the team to keep improving.
In addition:
You have broad experience in managing, securing and improving Windows Server platforms and hybrid infrastructures.
You have strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and modern platform services. In addition, proven hands-on experience with Active Directory, SCOM, SCCM and on-premises technologies is a must. These skills are essential for managing our hybrid environment securely and reliably during the transition to cloud.
You have strong experience with scripting and automation, preferably with PowerShell.
You can work independently with Azure DevOps and help others use pipelines, PBIs and release processes.
You have proven experience with lifecycle management, patching, hardening and security improvements.
You are able to analyse, resolve and structurally improve complex technical problems.
You can coach colleagues, provide technical direction and actively share knowledge within and outside the team.
You communicate clearly with engineers, architects, security specialists and stakeholders from other teams.
You have a proactive attitude and take ownership of platform quality, continuity and improvements.
You follow new technologies and can translate their impact into our platform environment.
You have an affinity with AI tools and understand how they can support engineering, documentation, testing or management processes.
You have a good command of English, both spoken and written.
